The Crown of Beauty
Not everyone knows that I have been dealing with a health situation called alopecia areata. It's a condition that very little is known about, and there is no known medical cure. Some doctors say it's an auto-immune disease, others say it's related to stress. I'm sure there are MANY factors that it could be, but what it really can be is devastating. It's basically the loss of your hair. Some people lose patches of hair, others all of the hair on their head(alopecia totalis), and still others lose all of the hair on their body(alopecia universalis). I originally lost all of the hair on my head, including eyebrows and eyelashes. I felt like an alien! My hair grew back while I was pregnant, and then fell out again last summer. So, this leads me to think that it's a hormone issue. I've started this blog to record my journey--document the discoveries I've made as I've visited various doctors--in order to help other women who are going through this same situation. Most people may or may not know that I've been wearing a wig for almost 4 years now, and only a handful of people have seen me without it. That's all about to change.

Things I Love
I love vintage clothes and jewelry, anything Jane Austen, most period piece films, walks in the park, a day at the beach, Lake Superior (I want to live there someday), apple picking, antiques...I'll add to it as I go. :)
A Little About Me.
I am a follower of Yahshua, a wife, and a mother. I have started this blog to discuss the health situation that I have been going though, alopecia areata. It's a condition that very little is known about, and really isn't talked about much. Because of that, women who have this condition don't know where to turn for answers. It's frustrating! I want to give women all over the world who are dealing with alopecia a message of hope. Life can still be wonderful even if you feel that you've lost your physical beauty. This condition doesn't decide who you are--you do. Most websites that I have seen talk about how one can learn how to live with this---I say battle it and be victorious! As I take the next step towards being physically healed, I want to share this journey through my blogging and through pictures. I believe that there is such a thing as healing, that Yahshua can heal anyone who asks. Sometimes it comes instantly, sometimes it doesn't. It's about the journey, the process, and that I will enjoy the process, even if it's not always easy. I know the end result---and that is complete healing.
